The course runs through Oak Point Park and the adjacent nature preserve, and it is open to both runners and walkers. All in-person participants receive a finisher medal, a tech shirt, and a custom bib. Post-race provisions include a complimentary cinnamon roll and coffee.
The event benefits Patriot PAWS, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that trains and provides service dogs at no cost to veterans, first responders, and others living with mobile disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or post-traumatic stress disorder. Patriot PAWS program dogs require 18 to 24 months of training and the organization reports a training cost of $46,000 per dog.
A virtual option is offered; virtual race packets are noted to ship approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the event date and service is limited to the US continental addresses. The Cinnamon Bun Run is part of AMPT’s multi-race series for the year; participants who complete all six series events receive an acrylic base to display that year’s medal.
