Starfish Dash 5K : Dash 2026
The Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society organized the Annual 5K Starfish Dash Run/Walk & Health Fair, held as an official Fiesta event for its ninth year. The event is free and all ages are welcome; strollers and wheelchairs are allowed. It took place on the UT San Antonio campus at 7431 Merton Minter, the park behind Gold’s Gym, San Antonio, TX 78229.
The event combined a timed 5K run/walk with a health and wellness fair and family-oriented activities. On-site offerings included music, face painting, cosplayers, and health and wellness testing. A kids’ run and awards were part of the program. Pre-registration for the in-person event was closed, and virtual registration was also closed.
Fundraising tiers were established for participants: raising $15 qualified for an event medal; $60 qualified for a t-shirt and medal; $100 qualified for a $20 Valero fuel card plus t-shirt and medal. Team captains who organized teams of five or more qualified for a $20 gas card. Sponsorships and in-kind donations such as water, food, and snacks were accepted at various levels, and a sponsorship packet was available.
The Starfish Dash supports the Chromosome 18 research center and its work with special-needs children and families. A 2026 honoree was recognized during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
