Starfish Dash 5K (2026)
The Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society presented the annual 5K Starfish Dash Run/Walk and Health Fair as a free, official Fiesta event held at the UT San Antonio campus (7431 Merton Minter, the park behind Gold's Gym) in San Antonio, TX. The 2026 edition was the event's ninth year; the next Starfish Dash is scheduled for April 24, 2027.
The event combined a 5K run/walk with a health and wellness fair and family-oriented activities. On-site offerings included music, face painting, cosplayers, health and wellness testing, a kids' run, a program, and a closing ceremony with awards. The event was open to all ages, with strollers and wheelchairs welcome. Pre-registration for the in-person event was closed and virtual registration was also closed for 2026. A virtual participation option had been made available for those outside Texas, with a downloadable virtual race bib provided for that option.
Fundraising tiers for 2026 were specified: raise $15 for a commemorative medal; $60 for a t-shirt and medal; and $100 for a $20 Valero fuel card plus t-shirt and medal. Team captains who organized five or more members qualified for a $20 gas card. Organizers accepted sponsorships and donations such as water, food, and snacks, and a sponsorship packet was provided.
