Starfish Dash 5K
The Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society presents the annual 5K Starfish Dash Run/Walk and Health Fair. This is the ninth running of the event and it is listed as an official Fiesta event. The in-person venue is the UT San Antonio campus at 7431 Merton Minter (the park behind Gold’s Gym) in San Antonio, TX 78229. The event is free and open to all ages; strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.
The day includes a health and wellness vendor fair, a kids run, a 5K run/walk, a program with music and entertainment, face painting, cosplayers, vendor health testing, and a closing ceremony with awards. A virtual participation option was offered so people could take part from other locations at their own pace. Pre-registration and virtual registration for the 2026 event are listed as closed.
Fundraising and team options are part of the event structure. Fundraising tiers for 2026 included: raise $15 to qualify for an official medal; raise $60 to qualify for a t-shirt and medal; raise $100 to qualify for a $20 Valero fuel card, t-shirt, and medal. Team captains who organize five or more members qualified for a $20 gas card. The event accepts sponsorships at various levels and donations of items such as water, food, and snacks to support the organization and its research.
