Chirk 10k Run
The Chirk 10 km is a community road running event held in Chirk. Participants vary in age and motivation, including fitness, competition, charity and general wellbeing. The route includes sections around Chirk Castle and country lanes with a mix of faster sections and uphill stretches.
Race headquarters is at Caffi Wylfa and the start and finish are on Station Road next to the cafe. Parking is provided at Kronospan, about a ten minute walk from the start area. Roads on the course are closed for the event; marshals will manage access and spectators are asked to stay off the course until runners have passed. Spectator viewing is suggested on Station Road and in the castle grounds.
The event has a 90 minute race cut off; roads will reopen in line with this pace and participants who fall behind may be withdrawn for safety. Minimum age to enter is 15 years. All finishers receive a medal, event goodies and a family pass for Chirk Castle valued at £49. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers and to seven age group winners in both sexes. The event supports The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital as its charity partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
