Chicagoland SCADaddle 5K Walk & Run for Research
The Chicagoland SCADaddle is a fundraising event focused on research into Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD). This is the 13th annual edition and it is based at Danada Forest Preserve, 3S580 Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189. The event includes a chip timed 5K run/walk on marked trails through the preserve.
The course is a USATF certified 5K and follows varied surfaces including crushed cinder, concrete, sidewalk and grass. All participants in the 5K are timed. Following the race there are refreshments, vendors and a SCAD store.
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners. Medals or recognition are given to 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female finishers and to the top three males and females in these age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up.
Additional elements include a SCAD Social Reunion and Presentation and a combined 5K Race and Reunion bundle. Registration fees listed for these items include $45.00 for the 5K, $65.00 for the social event and $105.00 for the bundle. A fundraising page is automatically added during registration but fundraising is not required. Participants who raise at least $1,000 receive a refund of the $45.00 5K registration fee as a fundraising award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
