The Universal Sole Summer Trail Challenge
The Universal Sole Summer Trail Challenge takes place in the Palos Trail System at Wolf Road Woods in Willow Springs, Illinois. The event features a loop-based course consisting of three miles. Participants select their distance by completing one, two, or three laps.
The available distances include:
- 3 miles
- 6 miles
- 9 miles
The course is set off-road and utilizes a mix of single-track and double-track paths. Runners will encounter varied terrain including crushed limestone, dirt, rocks, roots, and undulating elevations within the Wolf Road Woods area. There are occasional hills along the route.
Due to local regulations, there are no aid stations located directly on the trails. Water is provided at the start and finish line area. Runners participating in the multi-loop distances have access to water between laps. The event organizers suggest that participants carry personal hydration systems if they require water while on the course. Granola bars and bananas are available at the finish.
The event includes a post-race gathering featuring beverages from local sponsors and a raffle. Participants are also encouraged to bring old athletic shoes for a recycling program hosted by a non-profit organization on-site. Parking is available within the forest preserve lots.
