About the Event

The Chicago 5k, also known as Head for the Cure, is a run/walk event on October 4, 2026, at Diversey Harbor in Chicago, Illinois.

The Course

The event is a 5k run/walk. A separate 100 Meter Dash for kids is scheduled before the main event.

Event Purpose

This is the 13th annual event for the organization. The purpose is to raise awareness and funds to defeat brain cancer. Funds raised benefit local Chicago-area organizations including Advocate Health Care, Northwestern Medicine, and Path to Hope, as well as national brain cancer programs.

Schedule and Activities

The event schedule includes packet pick-up, the kids' dash, and the main 5k race. There is also a planned group photo for brain tumor survivors and a ceremony for special recognitions. These recognitions honor caregivers (Legacy of Love), healthcare professionals (Healthcare Hero), brain tumor survivors (Keeping the Faith), and those who have passed (Memorial).
