About the race
The Chi Town Half Marathon & 10K is a lakefront road race in Chicago with two distance options. The half marathon is USATF certified and the courses are described as flat and fast, with routes almost entirely on paved trail around Run Chicago’s lakefront.
Participants receive event gear with a runner’s choice of a cotton/poly t-shirt or a 1/4 zip pullover (1/4 zip is a paid upgrade). Packet mailing is offered as an option for a fee; on-site packet pick up is available for an additional fee and may involve a short wait.
Distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Finish line provisions include a Portillo’s hot dog with beef or veggie option, complimentary beer for participants 21 and older, a commemorative finisher medal for every participant in both distances, and live music. Winner medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group; age categories run from 10 and under up to 70 plus. If a medal is not picked up, a small mailing fee applies.
Additional race features: chip timing, pace teams covering a wide range of target finish times, water and sports drink stations on the half marathon course, a gear check with clear-bag policy, and live participant tracking via a race app. Dogs are not allowed; strollers are permitted for walkers and joggers with additional waiver requirements. The event proceeds in typical weather conditions but may be delayed for unsafe conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
