Cheesy Pretzel 5K and 1 Mile Walk
The Cheesy Pretzel 5K and 1 Mile Walk takes place at The Promenade Bolingbrook in Illinois. The event features two distinct distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Walk
The 5K follows a USATF certified course (IL23028NM) that winds through the Promenade property and surrounding residential subdivisions on paved streets. This portion of the event is timed and includes course monitors, split timers, and water stations. Participants must be at least 5 years old to register for the run.
The 1 Mile Walk is an untimed event that stays within the grounds of The Promenade Bolingbrook property. Strollers are permitted for both distances; stroller riders do not require a registration fee but do not receive event apparel or medals.
All registered participants in both the 5K and the 1 mile walk receive an order of pretzel bites and cheese. The first 550 registered participants are provided with a moisture-wicking long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal. Following the conclusion of the races, an awards ceremony is held for the 5K event, where trophies are awarded to the fastest overall male and female runners. Medals are also given to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories ranging from 10 and under to 75 and older.
Proceeds from the event support local non-profit agencies that provide mentoring, support groups, and leadership programs for teens in the Bolingbrook and Romeoville area. Post-race refreshments are provided at the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
