Chase the Sun : event description
Chase the Sun is a track event held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Russell High School on a standard 400 m outdoor track. The event offers solo and relay options, including a sunrise-to-sunset solo format and timed sessions. Lap counting and distance measurement are handled by an official timing provider; final results are based on the official lap count. One lap equals 400 m measured on the inner lane.
Aid is provided during the event and includes breakfast, lunch, supper, classic aid-station snacks, electrolytes, water and coffee; hot meal options are listed among the food offerings. Spaces are available along the track for crew tents and tables. Participants receive a t-shirt, a finisher certificate with laps, splits and distances, and finisher awards; 100-mile finishers receive a custom belt buckle. Special awards are given for top male, top female and relay distances in each event.
The direction of running changes every three hours. Track rules cover lane usage (lane 1 run, lane 2 passing, lanes 4–5 walkers/social pace), allowed walk breaks, direction change procedure, and staying on school property. Timing includes distance splits for half marathon, marathon, 50 km, 50 mile, 100 km and 100 mile and time splits for 6 and 12 hour formats.
