About the race
The Manotick Backyard Ultra is an annual community-focused running event held in Manotick, Ontario. The 2026 edition takes place on October 3, 2026. The event was created by local organizers in connection with 692 Coffee & Bar and InStride Running and grew from a desire to build a welcoming gathering for neighbours and runners.
The event uses the backyard ultra format, a repeating loop where each loop starts again at regular intervals. The format emphasizes mutual support among participants and a steady, repeatable course layout. Routes used in prior years are noted as subject to change.
The event program includes multiple races:
- Backyard Ultra Marathon not chip timed
- 5 km timed
- Family 1 km not chip timed
Race kit pickup is handled before race day on the scheduled days. A buff is included with registration; registrations submitted after September 24 at 12 pm will not receive a buff. Posted registration fees are: 1 km $24.03, 5 km $67.60, Backyard Ultra $132.96; the Backyard Ultra entry is listed as sold out. The event also references prior routes from 2025 as subject to change.
