Catch the Elf 5k and 10k
Catch the Elf is a Christmas themed road race held in December 2026 in Markham, Illinois, at 4000 W 155th St. The event includes chip timing and offers both a 5k (3.1 miles) and a 10k (6.2 miles).
Each race features a race elf that receives a one minute thirty second head start; finishing before the elf qualifies the runner for a special prize. Awards are provided for the Top 3 overall and for the top three male and female finishers in various age groups. There will not be an awards ceremony; winners should pick up awards before leaving the race site.
A long sleeve shirt is included with registration. Live results will be available online through IL Prep Top Timing. Packet pickup is scheduled for the Friday before the race at Running for Kicks in Palos Heights and on race morning. A gear check will be available and participants are asked to keep valuables in a safe location.
Additional activities include a kids race for children age eight and younger, Santa on site to hear children’s Christmas wishes, and a Secret Santa gift exchange. Secret Santa participants may bring a wrapped running related gift valued about $10 to $15 at packet pickup and receive a sticker on their bib to choose a gift after the race.
