Catch the Elf 5k & 10k - Markham, IL
The Catch the Elf 5k & 10k takes place on December 19, 2026, in Markham, Illinois, at 4000 W 155th St. The event benefits the Toy Box Connection Children's Charity and includes a festive program with Santa on site.

Each race will feature a race elf that receives a one minute thirty second head start; runners who finish before the elf are eligible for a special prize. Both races are chip timed and will award the top three overall finishers plus top three males and females in age groups. There will not be an awards ceremony; top finishers should pick up awards before leaving the site.
Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, December 18 at Running for Kicks, 7158 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights, and also on race day. A gear check will be available and participants are asked to keep valuables in a safe location. A long sleeve shirt is included with registration and live results will be available online at ilpreptoptiming.com.
Family features include a kids race for ages 8 and younger and a Secret Santa gift exchange using wrapped running related gifts valued around $10 to $15. Toy Box Connection accepts new and used toys and books and also requests gift cards from Amazon or Target; Legos are recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
