Event
The 38th Charnwood Hills Race takes place on 1 February 2026. It is a fell race run under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and has a permit with associated UK Athletics insurance. The event is based at Martin High School, Link Road, Anstey, Leicester, LE7 7EB. The minimum age for entry is 18. The field is limited to 350 runners and teams are allowed.
Course and entry
The course is approximately 14.5 miles (23.4 km) and follows public footpaths and open country through Bradgate, Broombriggs and Beacon Hill Country Parks. The route involves rough underfoot sections and includes significant ascent; published figures state around 1,200 feet of climb. Prizes are awarded to the first three women and first three men, to category winners in the FRA categories, and to the first men's and first women's teams (first three runners to count per team).
Entries are by pre-entry only and not available on the day. Entry opens at 8pm on 23 November on the event entry site and the fee is £18. Entries are non-refundable but may be transferred via the entry system up until 26 January 2026. The race uses a first-come first-served entry system and operates a waiting list once full. Volunteers are invited; volunteers receive a guaranteed entry to the 2027 race that can be transferred to another person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
