Watermead Challenge 2026

The Rotary Club of the Wreake Valley stages the 16th Watermead Challenge, centred on Watermead Country Park North near Syston, Leicester LE7 1PD. The main race is a 5 mile event run entirely on traffic free tarmac paths within the park. The course has been officially measured and the 5 mile race will be chip timed from start to finish. The route is described as flat and is on road and pavement surfaces.

There is an additional 3 mile (approx) fun run. The fun run will not be timed and its results will not be published. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in the 5 mile event. All finishers in the 5 mile event receive a medal, and fun run finishers receive a medal.

Entry is limited by event caps: 550 places for the 5 mile race and 50 places for the fun run. Minimum ages are set at 15 years for the 5 mile event and 6 years for the fun run, with children under 11 required to remain within arm's length of an accompanying adult. Entries close on 27 June 2026 and transfers are permitted up to that date. Organiser terms state no refunds or deferrals except that if the organisers cancel the race entrants will be offered a refund, deferral, or donation of their fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
