Watermead Challenge 2026
The Watermead Challenge returns for its 16th edition, organized by the Rotary Club of the Wreake Valley. The event features two distinct distances held within the grounds of Watermead Country Park North, located in Syston near Leicester. The courses consist of traffic-free tarmac paths through the parkland.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 5 miles (8.05 km)
- 3 miles (approximate) Fun Run
The 5 mile race is an officially measured course on flat road and pavement surfaces. This portion of the event utilizes chip timing to record individual results from start to finish. There is an entry limit of 550 participants for this distance, and runners must be at least 15 years old on race day. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in this category.
The 3 mile fun run is an untimed event, and no official results are published for this distance. It is open to participants aged 6 years or older, with the requirement that children under 11 remain within arm's length of an adult. This distance is limited to 50 entrants. All finishers in both the 5 mile race and the fun run receive a medal for their participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
