Charlottesville Fall Classic Half Marathon & 10K
The Charlottesville Fall Classic is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, with a start and finish on the Historic Downtown Mall at the east end in front of the Ting Pavilion. The event offers the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The course showcases historic Charlottesville neighborhoods and scenic paths along the Rivanna river, including passage by the historic Woolen Mills. The route is described as hilly overall with about five miles of flat terrain along the river; a course profile is available from the organizer.
The half marathon has a time limit of 3.5 hours, roughly a 16 minute per mile pace. There is a cutoff at mile 4.1; competitors who reach that point more than 1 hour and 6 minutes after the race start will be directed to complete only the 10K course.
This is an open course with traffic present on the roadways. Participants are asked to follow police and volunteer instructions and to avoid wearing headphones if they cannot hear approaching vehicles or directions from volunteers.
Packet pickup is available at a local running store the day before the race and on race morning at the start and finish; others may pick up a registered runner's packet with a copy or photo of the runner's ID. Technical race shirts are provided by Greenlayer in men's and women's cuts, and sizes are not guaranteed for late registrations.
Established in 2002, the race was named among the best road races in Virginia by Best Things Virginia. Awards are given to overall top finishers and to top finishers in multiple age categories; awards are not mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
