Charlie Holder Sr. Memorial Charity Race
The Charlie Holder Sr. Memorial Charity Race is a community sports event held in Middletown, Rhode Island. Now in its third year, the event honors the memory of a local athlete and veteran while raising funds for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and the Newport County YMCA Summer Scholarship Fund. The race features multiple ways to participate, including in-person running and walking events as well as a virtual participation option.
Participants can choose from several distances and formats:
- 10K Race
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K or 5K Virtual Option
The course is located at the Newport County YMCA at 792 Valley Road. Participants are permitted to use strollers, and dogs are allowed provided they are on a leash. The event organizers provide indoor restroom facilities at the YMCA. Parking is available at designated off-site locations on John Clarke Road, including the People's Credit Union lot and the Child & Family lot.
Bib pickup is organized at the YMCA lobby on the day before the event and on the morning of the race. Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt for those who sign up by the early April deadline.
