Event Overview

The Chapelton of Elsick 10K is an annual event held in July. The 2026 race will be the seventh edition. The event is not a closed-road race and is held under ARC rules.

Course & Route

The race is a 10 km multi-terrain route starting and finishing near Hume Square in Chapelton, near Newtonhill. The course goes through the Elsick House estate and is described as undulating. The majority of the route is on tarmac, with some farm tracks and a short grass section. The roads remain open to traffic. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs, and running with buggies or pets is not permitted.

Registration & Logistics

Registration takes place from 09:00 to 10:30 at The Hut on Greenlaw Road. All pre-entered runners must collect their race number on the day. A bag drop is available. Online entries close on 30th June, and no entries are accepted on race day. Entry fees are tiered, with a discount for members of Scottish Athletics or the Association of Running Clubs.

On the Day

A race safety brief is at 10:55. The race starts promptly at 11:00 near Hume Square. The event uses chip timing. A water station is located just after the 5 km point. First aid is available at the start/finish area and the water station. The use of in-ear headphones is not permitted; only bone-conducting or medically prescribed earphones are allowed.

Post-Race & Prizes

Refreshments are available at Hume Square after the race. Prize giving takes place from approximately 12:30. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers, with additional age category prizes. All finishers receive a unique medal and a memento.
