Chapelfell Top Fell Race
The Chapelfell Top Fell Race is an evening out and back fell event held on 13 July 2027, organised by Durham Fell Runners and licensed and supported by the FRA. The route climbs to the summit of Chapelfelltop at an elevation of 700 m and returns by the same line, covering a distance of 7 km with 400 m of ascent. The course leaves tracks to reach open fell ground where there are no paths and the route is not flagged.
The race is intended for people with fell running experience. Participants must be confident on rough, uneven terrain and able to navigate without marked lines. A map of the route is provided at registration and is available to download from the organiser's website; specific kit requirements will be confirmed on the day.
Required kit includes a map, compass, whistle, waterproof top with hood and taped seams, waterproof bottoms with taped seams, hat and gloves. Entry rules set a minimum age of 18 and the event offers reduced entry fees for FRA members. Competitors are asked to park considerately in the village.
