Course, kit and rules

The route is an out-and-back that starts in St John’s Chapel, follows a track before going onto open fell, reaches the summit of Chapelfell Top, then returns by the same line. The fell section has no paths and the route is not flagged; participants must be confident on rough terrain and have competent navigation skills. Compulsory kit includes a map, compass, whistle and waterproof top; organisers also list waterproof bottoms, hat and gloves as items to be carried if required. Kit to be carried may be confirmed on the day. The race is run under FRA rules; GPS navigation and walking poles are not permitted.

Parking is available in the village and entrants are asked to park considerately. Refreshments will be available from the Chatterbox Cafe.
