South Downs Way 100
The South Downs Way 100 is a non-stop 100 mile foot race that follows the South Downs Way National Trail from just outside Winchester to Eastbourne. The route runs primarily on trail with sections of road, crosses chalk ridgeway terrain and passes through rolling hills, ancient forts and villages with views across southern England. Total ascent is listed at 12,700 ft and the surface is roughly 85% trail and 15% road.
The event is organised by Centurion Running as part of the GranCanaria World Trail Majors Series and is in its 15th year. The course is fully marked using South Downs Way marker posts plus pink ribbons and arrows, and the race provides 12 staffed aid stations, full medical support, live tracking and a finish line with hot food and drinks. There is a 30 hour overall cut-off and strict cut-offs at each aid station.
Entry information includes a fee of £220 and entries for 2026 opened on 12 July 2025; the field is capped at 600 starters. Qualification requires a minimum completed 50 mile race within 15 hours since 1 January 2020, with organisers able to verify entries prior to race day.
Pacers are permitted from the Kithurst Hill crew point (mile 50) and one crew vehicle per runner may access specified crew points with a crew pass. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times, with lights required from Washington onwards; time penalties apply for missing items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
