Event

The South Downs Way 100® is a non-stop 100 mile (100mi / 161KM) foot race along the entire South Downs Way National Trail. The route runs from just outside Winchester to Eastbourne, following the chalk ridgeway and passing rolling hills, ancient forts, villages and coastal views across southern England. This is the 15th annual running of the event and it is part of the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors Series.

Logistics and race details

The course has approximately 12,700 ft (3,800 m) of elevation and is marked and supported with a minimum of 12 aid stations. The terrain is listed as about 15% road and 85% trail. The overall cut-off is 30 hours. Entry fee is £220 (£222 unaffiliated); entries open 12 July 2025 and the minimum age is 20. Event capacity is 600 starters.

Services and rules: the race provides full medical support, live tracking and a marked course. Drop bags are collected at start and available at Washington (mile 54), Housedean (mile 76) and the finish. Pacers are permitted from Kithurst Hill (mile 50) and one crew vehicle per runner is allowed at designated access points. Mandatory kit must be carried on course and will be checked; items include a charged mobile phone, 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, headtorch and backup light (lights required from Washington), long-sleeved warm layer and a cup.
