Central Park Duathlon and Team Boat Relay
The event takes place at the Central Park Boathouse parking lot, 72 E 72nd St, New York, NY 10021. It is the organizer's 42nd Annual Central Park Duathlon and Team Boat Relay and is open to athletes age 18 and older.
Competitors may enter as solo duathletes or as teams. Solo duathletes complete a run-bike-run format with two out-and-back runs on the east side of the park and two loops of the Central Park drive for the bike segment. Team Boat Relay pairs consist of one runner and one cyclist who both row boats together through the Lake after the bike segment.
Run course notes: both Run #1 and Run #2 are 2.2 miles each in an out-and-back format; only solo duathletes complete the second run. The run route follows the east side with a turnaround near the 96th Street Margaret L Kempner Playground, and includes an initial rise up Cat Hill. The bike route is two loops around Central Park Drive totaling 12 miles, including Harlem Hill, with about 300 feet of elevation gain per loop. The park remains open to the public during the race.
Boat relay notes: teams board at the Central Park Boathouse dock with staff assistance, row one loop of the Lake passing Bethesda Fountain and Bow Bridge, and finish by crossing the yellow finishing buoys. The event is not USAT certified and a USAT racing license is not required to compete. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
