Catoctin 50k Trail Run & Half Cat : June 20, 2026
The event is a trail race held in Cunningham Falls State Park and Gambrill State Park near Frederick, MD, with start/finish at the Manor parking area and a turn point at High Knob. Two distances are offered:
- 50K
- 25K (Half Cat)
The course is an out-and-back on established singletrack that is rocky, hilly, and blazed with light blue markings. It passes through shaded forest, several stream crossings, and sections within the Frederick watershed. The Half Cat runs from High Knob to Manor and the 50K continues beyond that point before returning to Manor.
Three staffed aid stations create six refueling opportunities on course in addition to the start/finish area. Aid station supplies include water, sports drink, soda, snacks, bananas, electrolyte supplements and assorted food. All runners must carry at least one 20 oz water bottle; two are recommended and hydration gear must be presented at bib pickup.
Field limits apply: the 50K and 25K have capped entries. Registration includes park fees, registration closes on June 16, and a 75% refund is available if requested by May 19. No deferrals or bib transfers. Crews are allowed only at Manor, Hamburg Road and High Knob; crews at other locations will lead to disqualification.
Bathrooms are available at Manor and High Knob. Participants must follow course markings and remain on the official route; there are no drop bags, personal assistants at aid stations, or trail sweeps.
