Catch the Leprechaun 5K
The Catch the Leprechaun 5K is a St. Patrick's Day themed running event held in Newark, Delaware. The race takes place on a course starting on Academy Street, with the central hub located at Klondike Kate's on East Main Street. Participants are encouraged to wear green attire to celebrate the holiday.
A primary feature of the event is the Leprechaun Challenge. In this competition, a designated runner (the Fusion Leprechaun) is given a 6 minute and 30 second head start on the course. Participants who successfully cross the finish line before the Leprechaun are eligible for a prize.

The event includes several participant amenities, such as a custom race bib and an event-themed t-shirt. Following the run, participants can gather at Klondike Kate's for post-race refreshments, including shepherd's pie and live music. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, overall masters winners, and the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. Overall and masters awards are determined by gun time, while age group awards are based on chip time. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Friends of Fusion Foundation, which supports children, young adults, and first responders in Delaware.
