Carrick Mountain (IMRA event)
The event is an Irish Mountain Running Association league race held in County Wicklow. The long course is 7.90 km with approximately 450 m of climb. A short course is available at 4.30 km and is under 5 km. The course is fully marked and GPS use is allowed. The published event difficulty is 6 (Moderate Terrain, 200 m - 500 m ascent, 6 km - 10 km).
Course and format
The route begins with a few hundred metres of fire road to space the field. It takes in the main mountain peak and includes fast downhill single-track. The route is described as predominantly two climbs and two downhills. Long and short course route descriptions are available.
Practical information
Registration is at Cooley Farm at the Stables and online pre-registration is required; registration closes at 12:00 on race day to allow printing of the entry list. Competitors who have not raced that year must register for the year and collect a race number to keep for the season. Numbers include a timing chip that is registered on the night.
Parking is provided at Cooley Farm (Eircode A67VE42) with a car parking fee to support Wicklow Cancer Support. Glenealy is a small village and organisers request car pooling where possible. Prizegiving is at Ashford House.
Mandatory kit and rules
Mandatory Level B kit must be carried: a waterproof jacket; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored; and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Runners without required kit may be denied entry or disqualified and random kit checks may be carried out. Juniors use the short course and must have full Level B kit.
