Carl Anderson GT Memorial 5K - JBER
The 773d Logistics Readiness Squadron organizes the Carl Anderson Ground Transportation Memorial 5K on August 27, 2026 at Fifth St and Arctic Valley Rd in Jber, AK 99505. The event is a local adaptation of an annual memorial run traditionally hosted at Fort Leonard Wood and is presented as a 3.1 miles (5K) course.
Registration opens August 7, 2026 and closes August 27, 2026. Registration is free.
The memorial honors five Ground Transportation Airmen who lost their lives while serving. One service member assigned to Elmendorf AFB deployed to Iraq in 2004 and was killed during a convoy attack near Mosul; that individual received multiple posthumous awards, and a convoy training base camp was later dedicated in honor of members of the unit. The event recognizes that service and those sacrifices.
The event description notes the connection to Ground Transportation duties and convoy training. It frames the 5K as a local way to remember fallen colleagues and the legacy they left within the Ground Transportation community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
