Cardington Cracker
Cardington Cracker is a fell race around Cardington near Church Stretton. The course distance is 14.5 km / 9 mi with approximately 793 m / 2602 ft of ascent. Entry is online only and places are limited to 180. The event is insured by the FRA. Minimum age is over 18.
The route is marked and marshalled except for the section off the first hill, The Lawley, which follows the obvious run down the spine of the hill. There are some short sections on road and three road crossings; competitors should be aware of traffic. The course can be wet, especially in December, and shoes with plenty of grip are recommended. Conditions on the summits can be testing. All runners must carry the required full FRA kit throughout the race.
Parking at the venue is limited. Parking on village roads is discouraged and official car parks should be used. No safety pins are provided. Water is available at the finish but not on the course; a table will be provided at the finish for personal drinks. Toilets are available at the Village Hall. Accommodation in the area is limited.
If a runner retires they must inform a marshal and the finish officials and return their dibber so officials know they are no longer on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
