Cardiff Pentath-Run (CPR)
Cardiff Pentath-Run is a two-day running challenge where results are based on cumulative time across five events that together approximate a marathon distance. Entrants take part in five separate races over the weekend and total time determines the overall result. The organiser issues a race pack by e-mail containing maps and route details; each runner is responsible for knowing the routes.
Distances included
- 5 km parkrun
- 10 km road
- 1 mile (1.6 km)
- 4.5 km cross country
- 21.1 km half marathon
Course and event notes: the 5 km is incorporated into Cardiff parkrun. Road and half marathon routes start near the stables, follow the Spine Road and riverside paths, pass Blackweir Bridge and Millennium Bridge and use a turnaround near the A48 underpass; there are no distance markers on those courses. The cross country race is three laps on grass in Pontcanna Fields and is marked with small flags and marshals. The 1 mile route runs on riverside and Spine Road paths to the finish near the stables.
Entry information: standard entry fees are listed for affiliated and non-affiliated runners, with separate fees for some individual events. Entrants must be 18 or older on 29 August 2026 and able to complete a half marathon within 2 hours 45 minutes. Closing date for entries is Wednesday 26 August 2026. Prize placings are provided for male and female top finishers and age group prizes depend on entries. Race HQ and late registration move with each event start/finish location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
