Phoenix Running South Wales - Frozen Phoenix 2026
Phoenix Running South Wales stages the Frozen Phoenix event on Sunday 27 December 2026 at Barry Sidings Country Park, on the Taff Trail near Pontypridd and Trehafod.
The event is a timed, lap-based format on a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out-and-back course. Each lap starts near Barry Sidings Cafe, follows the trail toward Pontypridd to a turnaround, returns past the aid station, cafe and lakes toward Trehafod for a second turnaround, and finishes at the aid station. The route is entirely tarmac or pavement and has about 50 m elevation gain/loss per lap. The overall minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles); the maximum is as far as a participant can go within the 7 hour time limit.

The event is classed as a road race and holds a course accuracy certificate from AUKCM (25/431). A UK Athletics race licence has been applied for. Entry prices listed include £33 affiliated and £35 unaffiliated; organisers also offer a lower cost no-medal entry option from £20 that excludes a physical medal. Regular entries include a bespoke finishers medal, an aid station, same-day results, digital BIBs and digital finishers certificates.
