The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB
The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB take place in Auburn, California and are scheduled from 23 to 26 April 2026. The event includes multiple trail race distances that follow sections of the Western States Trail and pass features such as the river crossing at Rucky Chucky, Devil's Thumb and Swinging Bridge.
Distances offered include
- 161 km
- 100 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
Courses vary in elevation gain with reported figures up to 5550 m for the longest distance and down to 850 m for the shortest course. The event serves as a qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and for the Western States Endurance Run. The Canyons 100 km awards Western States Golden Tickets by giving direct entry to the top three female and the top three male finishers.
The races start and finish in the historic gold rush town of Auburn and pass through river crossings, mountain streams and old wooden bridges near historic settlements. The event includes a UTMB Cares US program that supports trail care and local charities; the organizer reports grant funding for Western States Trail clean up and restoration and notes that a portion of certain bib purchases is directed to a local charity chosen by the race team.
