The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB - Auburn, California
The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB take place in Auburn, in the northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The event is a dual qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run. The Canyons 100K is a Western States 100 Super Golden Ticket race, with the top three male and female finishers earning direct entry to the Western States Endurance Run. A 100-mile distance was added to the event program for 2025.
The routes cross notable sections of the Western States Trail, including the river crossing at Rucky Chucky and sections near Devil's Thumb and Swinging Bridge, and cover up to 17,000' along the course. The race finishes downtown in Auburn, a town described as the "Endurance Capital of the World."
The event highlights local community involvement and volunteer support and includes UTMB Community Bibs, a program linked with the IRONMAN Foundation. Half of the community bib registration funds are directed to a local charity chosen by the race team. The IRONMAN Foundation reports over $60 million given through charitable programs since 2003.
