The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB
The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB take place in Auburn, California, in the northern foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The event is scheduled for April 22 to April 25, 2027, and finishes downtown in Auburn.
The event offers multiple race distances with listed elevation gains:
- 100 miles 161 km distance, 5550 m plus elevation
- 100 km 100 km distance, 3750 m plus elevation
- 50 km 50 km distance, 1700 m plus elevation
- 25 km 25 km distance, 850 m plus elevation
The courses share sections of the Western States Trail and pass notable features such as the Rucky Chucky river crossing, Devil’s Thumb, and Swinging Bridge. Some courses involve roughly 17,000 feet of cumulative climbing on the shared sections.
The event is a dual qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run. The Canyons 100K is designated a Western States Super Golden Ticket race, with the top three female and male finishers awarded Golden Tickets for the Western States Endurance Run.
The local community and volunteers are described as central to the event atmosphere. The UTMB Community Bibs program directs half of related registration funds to a local charity chosen by the race team and is part of broader IRONMAN Foundation charitable activities.
