CanLake Ultras : Canandaigua, NY
CanLake Ultras is a multi-event ultrarunning weekend held at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, New York. The main event is a 50 mile road loop around Canandaigua Lake. The course is described as mostly flat to rolling roads with several major climbs, including a named climb called Bopple Hill. The event is fully supported with eleven aid stations offering fuel.
A shorter option follows the final portion of the 50 mile route. The organizer notes this 50 km course covers the last 31 miles of the 50 mile route and has significantly less climbing and descending than the first 19 miles.
Event formats include:
- 50 mile Solo - road loop around Canandaigua Lake
- 50 km Solo - point to point over final 31 miles
- Solo Pacer - pacing role for solo runners
- 50 mile Relay Captain - team relay option including a new 5 person relay
The race allows personal handlers but requires them to follow specific safety rules; violations can lead to disqualification. Volunteer roles are supported and come with recognition such as a race shirt and post-race meal; some key volunteer roles receive event entries or revenue shares for nonprofit groups. Registration policies include relaxed deadlines and no fees for participant transfers, distance switching, deferrals, or refunds within specified dates.
