Frozen Assets Endurance Run - Harriet Hollister State Recreation Area
Frozen Assets Endurance Run is a winter trail race scheduled for January 2, 2027 at Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area. The event draws on the traditions of the Frozen Assets Snowshoe Race and the S6 Endurance Mountain Bike Race but is held without snowshoes or bikes. The course is approximately 10k, though the distance may change depending on trail and weather conditions.
Registration has a fee of $20 plus $3.75 in UltraSignup fees, with no planned price increases. The race is the first event in the Common Ground Winter Trail Series, organized by FarFetched Enterprises in collaboration with Goose Adventure Racing, Doody Runs, and WE Adventure NY. Series registrants are offered bonuses that include free entry into a later event, series merchandise, and entry into a draw for FarFetched Mug Club membership and a custom 24 fl oz mug.
There is a large parking lot at the park; Race HQ is a short walk down Overlook Road at the point where Bear Cub Run meets the road and crosses to the Bypass trail. The park has no indoor facilities; one on-site bathroom is available and there will not be additional port-a-potties. The last quarter mile into the park is unpaved and conditions can be variable.
The course follows mostly winding single-track trail blazed for the S6 mountain bike race. Snow is likely on course: appropriate traction for footwear is advised, snowshoes are not permitted, runners should avoid groomed ski trails and be courteous to Nordic skiers, and snowmobiles have the right of way at crossings. There are no aid stations on course; participants are expected to carry their own water and fuel. A modest spread at the start and finish will include warm apple cider, Skratch Hydration, water, and snacks. A post-race gathering is planned at Birdhouse Brewing in Honeoye, about a 10-minute drive or a 1.5 hour run from the park; the upstairs lounge is reserved and the first round of drinks will be provided.
