11th Annual Cancer Crawl
The Cancer Crawl is a nonprofit event in Port Richey, Florida, established in 2016 following a local cancer diagnosis. The event serves as a day to honor those fighting the disease and the individuals who support them. The proceeds from the event benefit local recipients and cancer research at the Moffitt Cancer Center.
The primary activity is a walk covering a distance of 1.1 miles. The route begins at the Sand Pebble Pointe Entrance located at 4740 Bay Blvd and moves toward Thee Pirate Bar. Following the walk, festivities take place at the bar location on Treadway Drive.
The event features several community activities and health services:
- 1.1 miles walk
- On-site mammogram bus (costs covered by insurance or the organizing nonprofit)
- Live music
- Silent auction
- Group survivor photograph
- Drawings for a liquor table and a 50/50 raffle
Registration for the event is free. Participants may choose to purchase t-shirts or food-only wristbands to access event site food and specific beverages. Pre-ordered shirts are available for a fee and include food access. Organizers prioritize pre-orders by a set deadline to guarantee shirt availability. Crawl for the Cure, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and donations may be tax-deductible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
