The Campobello Coastal Challenge is a trail running event on Campobello Island. The 10 km, 25 km, and 50 km routes traverse two parks with spectacular coastal views. A portion of proceeds supports the local food bank.

Location and Date

The event takes place on August 22, 2026, on Campobello Island in New Brunswick. The start is at Roosevelt Campobello International Park.

Distances

The event offers three race distances:

  • 10 km (loop)
  • 25 km (loop)
  • 50 km (double loop)

Course

The course traverses two parks: Roosevelt Campobello International Park and Herring Cove Provincial Park. Runners encounter forested trails, rocky beaches, coastal cliffs, and bog boardwalks. The 25 km and 50 km routes include a 2.7 km beach section. The 10 km follows the initial part of the 25 km route before branching inland. The courses offer views of Passamaquoddy Bay, and bald eagles, seals, porpoises, and whales may be seen.

Equipment and Aid

This is a cup-less event. Each participant must bring their own container for aid stations. Aid stations providing water, Skratch drink, and snacks are located along the course. Washroom facilities are available on the course and at the start/finish area.

Registration

Registration is online only and closes on August 14 at noon. No race day registration is available. Race kit pickup is on Friday evening at Herring Cove campground or Saturday morning at Roosevelt Park.

Additional Information

A free kids run is held at noon. All participants receive swag. Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in each distance. The event is chip-timed. Dogs and strollers are not permitted. A portion of registration fees is donated to the Campobello Island food bank. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
