Campobello Coastal Challenge
The Campobello Coastal Challenge takes place on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. The event is a joint effort between Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Herring Cove Provincial Park, and Dutch Viking Events. A portion of all registration fees is donated to the local island food bank.
The race routes feature diverse terrain, including forested trails, rocky beaches, coastal cliffs, and bog boardwalks. Participants run through trails originally established by President Franklin Roosevelt, overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay. Wildlife sightings along the coast may include bald eagles, seals, porpoises, and whales.
The following distances are available:
- 10 km: A loop following the main route for several kilometers before entering Herring Cove Provincial Park.
- 25 km: A single loop crossing from the historic core of the international park to the provincial park beach.
- 50 km: A double loop of the 25 km course.
This is a cup-less event, meaning participants must bring their own bottles or hydration packs. Aid stations providing water and nutrition are located at specific intervals along the courses. All races are chip-timed, and swag is provided to participants. A free kids run is held at noon. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the course due to trail conditions and regulations.
