CACTUS MAN – Lake Pleasant Triathlon, Duathlon & Aquabike

This multisport event at Lake Pleasant Regional Park, Castle Creek Boat Ramp, offers Sprint and Olympic distances for individuals and relay teams, plus separate duathlon and aquabike races. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon; every participant must hold an annual USAT membership or purchase a one-day membership during registration.

Distances include:

  • Olympic Triathlon: Swim 1500 m, Bike 40 km, Run 10 km
  • Sprint Triathlon: Swim 750 m, Bike 22 km, Run 5 km
  • Sprint Duathlon: Run 5 km, Bike 22 km, Run 5 km
  • Olympic Aquabike: Swim 1500 m, Bike 40 km
  • Sprint Aquabike: Swim 750 m, Bike 22 km

Racer amenities listed by the organizer include a race long sleeve hoodie, post-race refreshments, finisher medals for all participants, and awards for top three in many categories. There is an option to decline the hoodie during registration for a $10 discount using code NOHOODIE; this discount does not apply to relays. Park entry on race day requires a $10 fee.

Packet pickup provides a race envelope with bike frame and run numbers, a swim cap, the hoodie unless declined, and a timing chip. Chip timing uses triathlon chips; athletes must wear the chip on the left ankle from start to finish, not cut the provided neoprene strap, and return the chip at the finish or face a charge.

Course notes: swim, bike, and run use defined loop formats - sprint and Olympic loops differ in lap counts. The bike course is out-and-back toward Carefree Highway, cyclists must self-support (no water stations), and roads are restricted to local traffic only. The transition area is rough underfoot; athletes may leave flip flops at the swim exit. Wetsuit use follows USAT temperature rules, with eligibility for awards dependent on water temperature. There are scheduled course cutoffs during the morning to manage laps and run progression. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
