CACTUS MAN – LAKE PLEASANT
Cactus Man is a multisport event held at Lake Pleasant – Castle Creek Boat Ramp offering triathlon, duathlon and aquabike options in sprint and Olympic distances. The event course uses the lake for the swim and roads near the boat ramp for the bike and run segments.
Distances:
- Olympic Triathlon : Swim 1500m, Bike 40km, Run 10km
- Sprint Triathlon : Swim 750m, Bike 22km, Run 5km
- Sprint Duathlon : Run 5km, Bike 22km, Run 5km
- Olympic Aquabike : Swim 1500m, Bike 40km
- Sprint Aquabike : Swim 750m, Bike 22km
The race is chip timed; timing chips are issued at packet pickup, should be worn on the left ankle and returned at the finish. Packet pickup materials include a bike frame number, run number, swim cap and a long sleeve hoodie unless the participant opts out. There is an option to receive $10 off registration by selecting No Hoodie and entering code NOHOODIE; this discount does not apply to relays.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and requires participants to hold an annual membership or purchase a one day membership. Park entry requires a $10 fee. The bike course has no water stations and athletes must self-support; the run course provides water at turnaround points. The event uses looped bike and run formats and enforces course cut offs and award categories including age groups, aquabike, duathlon, clydesdales, athenas and relay.
