Max Performance Buzzards Bay Triathlon
The Max Performance Buzzards Bay Triathlon and Duathlon take place Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Horseneck Beach State Reservation in Westport, Massachusetts (164 John Reed Road). The event serves as a season ending multisport race on Buzzards Bay.
The event offers sprint triathlon and sprint duathlon formats with these distances:
- Sprint Triathlon: 1/3 mile swim, 13.3 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Sprint Duathlon: 2 mile run, 13.3 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
The swim is held in a secluded cove along the bay with reported water temperatures around 70 degrees F. The bike course runs through Westport and the local Farm Coast, with views of bay shoreline, farmhouses, cottages, and stonewalls. The run follows a beach path along the bay and ocean and finishes on the beachfront path.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and lists certified race directors. The same general course layout is used for both triathlon and duathlon formats, with the duathlon replacing the swim with an opening run along the beachfront paved path.
