Butterfly Effect Project 5K
The Butterfly Effect Project Inc. raises funds to reduce financial barriers that limit access to mental health and wellness services in Southern Maryland. The organization supports people facing economic hardship, insurance gaps, or systemic inequities and seeks to provide a safe space for beginning healing and personal growth.
The event takes place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Baggett Park, 26929 Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. There are two event options: a 5k Fun Run/Walk with no bib assigned and a 5K Race that is a timed event with a bib. Both events cover a distance of 3.1 miles. Registration opens May 20, 2026. The Fun Run/Walk registration closes October 3, 2026; the timed 5K registration closes August 31, 2026. Listed registration fees are $20 for the Fun Run/Walk and $35 for the timed 5K. There is no race-day registration.
Age-group awards are presented for overall male and female finishers and for the top male and female in these age groups: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-18, 20-40, and 40 plus, identified as the Masters group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
