Butterfly Effect Project 5K
The Butterfly Effect Project 5K is a community running event held at Baggett Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The event includes two options: a 5K Race (timed event with a BIB) and a 5k Fun Run/Walk (no BIB). Both options cover the same distance of 3.1 miles.
Registration for entries opens on May 26, 2026. The timed 5K has an earlier registration close date of August 31, 2026. A later registration close is noted for other entries on October 3, 2026 at 6:00 pm and there is no race day registration. The event information lists an entry fee of $20 for the Fun Run/Walk and $35 for the timed 5K. A separate fee schedule is also provided showing $35 through August 30, $40 through September 30, and $45 through October 3 at 6:00 pm.
Packet pickup is available the morning of the event at the park from 07:30 to 08:15. Awards are given overall to top male and female finishers and to top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11 to 13, 14 to 18, 20 to 40, and 40 plus in the Masters group.
