The Butter Tart Festival Race offers both in-person and virtual options on August 8, 2026, at Spencer Smith Park, Lakeshore Road, Burlington, Ontario. The event features several distances and provides a race kit for each registration.

Each race kit includes a finisher medal and butter tarts. Registration fees vary by distance and by virtual or in-person choice. A $10 discount applies for youth aged 16 and under and for seniors aged 65 and over. Virtual participants may track their activity with the ASICS Runkeeper app and submit results; everyone who posts a virtual result receives a virtual finisher certificate.
The 3 KM and 5 KM races are chip timed by Speed River Timing, with results available through Speed River Timing. The course follows Burlington's walking trails in an out-and-back layout and is described as flat. Strollers are permitted with a request that stroller runners start from the back of the corral. Dogs are not permitted.
The in-person race proceeds in normal weather and will only be cancelled for extreme conditions. If the in-person event is cancelled, participants are moved to the virtual option and no refunds are issued. Race kit pickup is available the day before at the Burlington Running Room store and on race day at Spencer Smith Park. Fundraising activities support the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation and Hamilton Food Share, with non-perishable food collection at the event.
