Butter Tart Festival Race - Burlington, ON
The Butter Tart Festival Race, organized by VR Pro, takes place on August 8, 2026 at Spencer Smith Park in Burlington, Ontario. The event offers both in person races and virtual participation across short distances.
Distances offered:
- 1 km family event
- 3 km chip timed race
- 5 km chip timed race
Race kits and bibs must be picked up before participating. Kit pickup is scheduled the day before at the Burlington Running Room store and on race day at Spencer Smith Park East Lawn. Participants must wear their bib on the front of their shirt. Kits include a finisher medal and butter tarts and participants choose a kit item such as a phone lanyard or a race T shirt. Butter tarts are provided by Longo’s and an ice cream vendor will sell items on site.
The 3 km and 5 km races use chip timing with results provided by Speed River Timing. Strollers are permitted provided they start at the back of the field. Dogs are not allowed. The event will proceed in normal weather and will be canceled only in extreme conditions; if the in person race is canceled, registrations will be moved to the virtual option without refund. A $10 age discount applies for youth aged 16 and under and for adults aged 65 and over.
Proceeds and donations support the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation, including the Mental Health and Addictions program, and non perishable food donations are collected at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
