Butter Tart Festival Race
The event takes place on August 8, 2026 at Spencer Smith Park, East Lawn, Burlington, Ontario. It offers in-person races and virtual participation options across multiple distances.

- 1 km
- 3 km (chip timed in person)
- 5 km (chip timed in person)
Each race kit includes a finisher medal and butter tarts; Longo's provides the complimentary butter tarts after the race. The signature Butter Tart Medal is available while supplies last; if unavailable, participants will receive the Burlington Pier Spinner Medal plus a separate bag with a butter tart. Participants may select a race kit item: phone lanyard, race t-shirt, or three-pack of socks.
The route is an out-and-back course along Burlington's walking trails and is described as flat. Timing for the 3 km and 5 km races is provided by Speed River Timing. Virtual entrants can track and submit results using the ASICS Runkeeper app or submit manually; virtual finishers receive a virtual finisher's certificate.
Race kits and bibs must be picked up before lining up; pickup is available at designated pre-race locations and on race day, and someone else may collect a kit on a participant's behalf. Strollers are permitted if started from the back of the corral; dogs are not permitted. The event collects non-perishable food and supports Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation and Hamilton Food Share. If the in-person race is cancelled for extreme conditions, participants will be moved to the virtual race and no refunds will be issued.
