Summer Sunset Series
The Summer Sunset Series takes place on August 27, 2026 at the Desjardins Recreation Trail in Hamilton, Ontario. The event is organized by The Runner's Den in partnership with Mizuno and uses the waterfront trail for its routes.
The event program includes the following distances:
- 1K Kids Fun Run: 1 km along the Waterfront Trail, not timed, medals for finishers.
- 5K Walk/Run: 5 km out and back on the Waterfront Trail, timed with ankle chip.
The 5K is a timed event that uses an ankle chip for individual chip times. To keep costs low, no shirt or medal will be provided for 5K runners. The kids run is not timed and medals will be provided to children who finish.
Onsite features listed by the organizer include demo shoes available to try, draw prizes provided by Mizuno, and post race refreshments for all participants. Registration and chip pick up are available on race day at the event site. There is no official race kit or bib; ankle chips are distributed at the start area on race day.
Route and parking information notes free street parking in the Westdale neighbourhood and paid parking at RBG Cootes Paradise, with a reminder that tickets are often issued for vehicles that do not pay for parking at Cootes Paradise.
