About the race
The BURT is a February trail running event on Bainbridge Island, WA, offering three distance options and a limited field. The course is organized as a 55 kilometer loop that connects the island’s public and some private trail networks. Organizers report annual course changes as new trail connectors are added.
For 2027 the course includes a new boardwalk bridge through Lost Valley to reduce muddy sections, and a fourth climb has been added in the Gazzam area. Distances listed for the event are:

- 110K
- 100(ish) miles
The event is capped at 65 runners total with subcaps currently set as 40 runners for the 55K, 10 for the 110K, and 15 for the 100 mile distance. 100 mile entrants are vetted before acceptance; once vetted and approved their registration payment is charged automatically. Organizers state that 100 percent of the registration cost goes to the Bainbridge Island Parks and Trails Foundation Trails Fund after applicable state tax, the event registration fee, and event purchases are deducted.
