BURT 100 : Bainbridge Island trail running event
The BURT is a trail running event on Bainbridge Island, Washington, held annually in February. The event uses a roughly 55 kilometer loop that links public and some private trail networks on the island. Organizers add new trail connectors each year; for 2026 the course replaced 1.5 miles of road with trails.
Distances offered:
- 55 kilometers
- 110 kilometers
- 100(ish) miles
The event emphasizes community, shared experience, and a sparse presentation compared with many modern endurance events. Volunteer opportunities are available before, on, and after the event; the organizer maintains a volunteer spreadsheet.
Capacity is limited to 65 runners total, with subcaps for each distance: 55k capped at 40 runners, 110k at 13 runners, and 100M at 12 runners. 100-mile entrants are vetted before acceptance to ensure a plan is in place. When waitlisted and later approved, the registrant's payment method is automatically charged.
The event is partnered with the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation. Registration fees are directed to the Foundation’s Trails Fund, after applicable Washington state tax, the registration platform fee, and event purchases are deducted. Weather in February can be adverse. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
