Bideford Half Marathon
The Bideford Half Marathon is an officially measured and verified half marathon holding Certificate of Course Accuracy 20/085 and a RunEvents licence. The course starts and finishes close to the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club clubhouse and runs along the River Torridge between Bideford and Great Torrington.
The route heads out on roads and returns on the Tarka Trail, including a tunnel. It is described as moderately flat with a short hill section. The course is marshalled and marked in miles, with the final 800 metres marked every 100 metres. Water stations are provided at approximately 4, 7 and 9 miles, with bottled water supplied by Tarka Springs.
Medals and a T shirt are provided to all finishing runners. T shirt sizes are allocated from original entry details and can only be substituted after all finishers have received theirs. Cash prizes are offered for the top six men and women, with a bonus if the first man or woman breaks the course records male 01:05:35 and female 01:16:35. Category trophies and cash awards are available from U20 to V75, and all prizes are issued at the prize presentation on race day.
Event safety and entry rules include no walkers, a required running pace equivalent to 15 minutes per mile or faster to meet the cut off time of 3 hours 17 minutes, no headphones, and no dogs or wheeled devices. Baggage storage, changing facilities and showers are available at the clubhouse and portable and public toilets are provided.
