Bideford Half Marathon
The Bideford Half Marathon is an officially measured half marathon with a Certificate of Course Accuracy 20/085. The route starts and finishes close to the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club clubhouse and follows roads and the Tarka Trail, taking in countryside alongside the River Torridge between Bideford and Great Torrington. The outward section is on roads and the return uses the Tarka Trail, including a short tunnel. The course is described as moderately flat with a small hill section. Markers are in miles and the final 800 metres are marked every 100 metres. Water stations are located at approximately 4, 7 and 9 miles, with bottled water supplied by Tarka Springs.
Facilities at the clubhouse include baggage storage, changing rooms and showers. Portable toilets will be provided and there are public toilets on the quay and by Riverbank car park. Refreshments will be available at the clubhouse and the club bar opens from midday. All finishers receive a medal and a T-shirt; requested T-shirt sizes are allocated at the original entry and substitutions are managed after finishers have received theirs.
Prizes include cash awards for the first six men and women, a bottle of fizz for first place, category trophies from U20 to V75 and a cash bonus for a new course record. The race is limited to 1,200 runners and online entries close at 8pm on Friday 5 March 2027 or when capacity is reached. Safety rules include no walkers, no headphones, and a 3 hour 17 minute cut-off; runners not meeting requirements may be withdrawn or disqualified.
