Bright Lights 5K / 1 Mile Walk : Garvin Park, Evansville
The event takes place on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, at Garvin Park in Evansville as a one-night park opening for participants. For that night the park is open only to runners, walkers, and people using wheelchairs or other mobility equipment; no vehicles or carriages are allowed on the park streets. Dogs are not permitted except for service animals.
Distances offered:
- 5K: 2.88 miles, three loops around Garvin Park
- 1 mile: untimed community walk
The 5K route follows the park light displays, passes seven lighted trees and the fountain area, and includes a water stop near the end of the first loop. Medals will be awarded to the first 150 finishers. Awards are given to overall male and female winners and to the top two males and females in age groups from 1–9 through 80+.
Entry and shirts: the 5K has an entry fee with an early registration price and shirt included for registrations completed by November 1; the community walk has a separate small admission fee and shirts are not included with the walk entry but can be purchased in advance before November 1.
Logistics: packet pickup is offered before the event at Ultimate Fit and at the Run/Walk tent at Garvin Park on event day. The community walk is untimed and operates alongside the 5K; walkers receive a glow bracelet upon payment. Food trucks are listed for the event and a costume contest with prizes is part of the evening. Proceeds benefit Easterseals Rehabilitation Center programs for children and adults with disabilities.
