Brenig Way 50k Trail

The Brenig Way 50k Trail is a 50 km trail race that starts at Green Lane Car Park, Corwen and finishes on the dam at Llyn Brenig. The route follows the regional Brenig Way footpath through the Dee Valley, crosses to the A5 in Conwy county, climbs into Clocaenog Forest, and runs along Llyn Brenig. Total ascent is 1,450 m. Terrain includes country lanes, technical climbs and descents, grassy riverside paths and forest tracks. Participants must navigate using existing Brenig Way waymarkers, a provided GPX file and an event map.

Practical information

The event is organised by OutFit Personal Fitness Ltd and is scheduled for 18 October 2026. The race is open to entrants aged 18 and over on that date. There are two start groups based on estimated finish time. The event is electronically timed and each runner will be given a GPS tracker. There are three checkpoints with refreshment access at Glan yr Afon (11 km, cut off 9:30), Clocaenog Forest (24 km, cut off 12:00) and Cyfylliog Village (37 km, cut off 14:30). Mandatory kit requirements include a waterproof jacket and trousers, a spare base layer top, hat and gloves, a whistle, the provided map, a fully charged mobile phone and starting with 500 ml of water.
