Brenig Way 50k Trail
The event is a 50 km trail race with approximately 1450 m of ascent on the marked Brenig Way route. The route runs from the town of Corwen in the Dee Valley, follows the Dee Valley signage, crosses toward the A5 in Conwy county, climbs through Clocaenog Forest and reaches the shores of Llyn Brenig before the finish at the dam.
The course includes a mixture of terrain: country lanes, technical climbs and descents, grassy riverside paths and forest tracks. Navigation relies on the existing Brenig Way waymarkers; the organiser supplies a GPX file and an event map.
There are three checkpoints along the route at 11 km (Glan yr Afon), 24 km (Clocaenog Forest) and 37 km (Cyfylliog Village) where runners can access refreshments. The event is electronically timed and each participant receives a GPS tracker.
All runners must carry mandatory kit: waterproof jacket and trousers, a spare base layer top, hat and gloves, a whistle, the provided map, and a fully charged mobile phone. Runners are required to start with at least 500 ml of water. The listed location for the event is Green Lane Car Park, Corwen. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
