Event overview
The Breaking Dawn Run/Walk takes place on February 1, 2026, at Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie, LA. The event is a fundraiser for the Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club. All net entry fees and 100% of donations benefit the "Rewards for Reading" and "Scholarship Grant Fund" programs. Distances offered include:

- Kid's Dash - 1/4 mile
Custom finisher medallions are presented to all officially registered finishers. Awards are given for overall and age divisions, including 1st overall categories for Open, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Male and Female, plus age-group awards for 14-under through 80-over. A Race Walker division awards 1st–3rd overall male and female; Race Walker entrants must check in at the Race Walker information table on race day.
Logistics and services
Packet pickup is available before race day at Fleet Feet-Metairie on January 29 and at the race site on race day. Commemorative short-sleeve unisex T-shirts are provided in youth and adult sizes; an extra charge applies for XX-Large. Entry fee schedule includes early-entry pricing and higher fees closer to the event and on race day; youth and senior discounted fees require proof of age at packet pickup. Refreshments for registered entrants include bottled water, sports drink, fruit, snacks, beer from a local distributor, and breakfast burritos provided by the Dawn Busters Burrito Krewe.
