Brazen New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
Events take place at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, California, at 17600 Lake Chabot Road. The schedule spans New Year's Eve, 12/31/2026, and New Year's Day, 1/1/2027, with both in-person and a virtual remote option.

Course details differ by distance. The 5K is entirely on paved trails. The 10K is roughly 50% paved trails and 50% dirt trails. The half marathon is approximately 30% paved trails and 70% dirt trails. The 5K and 10K are essentially out-and-back courses, while the half marathon is essentially a loop. All courses include rolling hills that are mostly runnable.
The half marathon course has a time limit of 4.5 hours. Half marathon participants must reach the aid station at mile 10.7 by 11:45 am. Events on consecutive days are presented as separate races; each race requires its own registration. Completing events on both days is associated with earning the Brazen New Year Mega-Medal.
