Event overview
The Borders 8-hour Challenge is scheduled for 05 September 2026 at Rock UK near Newcastleton. Participants attempt to complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an eight-hour time limit. Cut-off to begin a final lap is one second before the eight-hour limit; all laps must be completed by the nine-hour mark. The event is organised by NU Limits Running Ltd and has 200 places available.

Course and timing
The route follows trail paths around Borders Forest Park with approximately 480 ft of ascent per lap. A GPX file is provided for full route details. Timing uses electronic wristbands (HuTags on velcro straps) that register lap start and finish with the event timing monitor. Runners must check out with the timing partner after finishing to finalise lap counts and finish results.
Facilities, kit and logistics
Basecamp is marked on the GPX map and offers two 6 x 3 m gazebos plus an indoor hall for kit storage; organisers do not accept liability for lost items. Onsite catering will provide hot food, snacks and drinks. Parking is charged at £5 per day and £15 per night for campervans, with overnight access to water and toilet facilities. Accommodation options are available for two nights (Friday and Saturday) at listed prices.
Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour; 60–90 g carbohydrates per hour of running), appropriate clothing, dry clothes, a mobile phone and a headtorch.
Entry and policies
Entry price until 02 September 2026 is £46.95. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies per sign-up. Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Event transfers within the same calendar year are allowed up to one month before the event; participant place transfers are allowed up to one week before the event.
