Borders 8-hour Challenge 2026 (NU Limits Running)
The event is an eight hour loop challenge on trail paths around Borders Forest Park. Runners complete as many 4.366 mile laps as possible within the eight hour limit. Each lap has approximately 480 ft of ascent.
Distance markers for the lap format:
- 4.366 mile single lap
- 3 laps equals a half marathon
- 6 laps equals a full marathon
- 7 or more laps counts as an ultramarathon
Runners wear an electronic wristband timing tag that records the start and finish time of each lap and provides a final lap count. Tags must be worn on the wrist and not covered by clothing. Runners should avoid congregating at the start line after finishing a lap to prevent false readings. After finishing, runners check out at Basecamp, hand in their timing chip, receive a lap breakdown and a finisher bag.
Basecamp is shown on the event map and includes two 6 x 3 meter gazebos and an indoor hall for kit storage; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Onsite catering will offer hot food, snacks and drinks. Parking is managed on Rock UK grounds with marshals and includes paid day parking and overnight campervan options with water and toilet access. Accommodation options are available through Rock UK; prices listed cover two nights.
Refunds and transfers follow the organiser policy on time limits. Volunteer roles and duration are provided and volunteers receive free entry for a future event or the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
