Borders 8 hour Challenge 2026 (NU Limits Running)
The Borders 8 hour Challenge takes place on 05 September 2026. Participants complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an eight hour time limit on trail paths around Borders Forest Park. Each lap includes about 480 ft of ascent and the route GPX is provided for full details.
Timing is managed by an electronic wristband using HuTags on velcro straps. The band records the start and finish of each lap on a basecamp timing monitor. Runners must not cover the tag with wet clothing and should avoid congregating at the start area to prevent false readings. Runners must check out at basecamp to return timing tags and receive a finisher bag and official lap breakdown.
Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration for the event - minimum 1500 ml fluid and 60–90 g carbohydrates per running hour - appropriate clothing for weather, dry clothes for after the event, a mobile phone, and a headtorch. Basecamp is shown on the event GPX map and offers two outdoor gazebos, an indoor hall, and limited kit storage with no liability accepted by the organiser. Spectators are welcome and onsite catering will provide hot food, snacks, and drinks.
Parking is charged per day and per night with overnight access to water and toilet facilities for campervans. A range of accommodation options is available for two nights inclusive with prices listed by room and lodge type. Volunteer roles are available and include start and finish staff, route marshals, registration, and car park support; volunteers receive a free entry for a future or the same event.
