The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel 2026
The event takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026 at Kielder Castle, Kielder, Hexham, Northumberland. It is a trail running event held within Kielder Forest with mixed terrain that includes fast forest trails and steady inclines.
Distances offered include:
- 50 km Ultra: +1177 m, £89
- 43 km Marathon: +869 m, £79
- 23 km Half Marathon: +407 m, £49
- 12 km Middle: +487 m, £39
- 6 km Short: +205 m, £25
Outposts are provided as top-up stations: the Ultra route has five outposts, the Marathon has four, the Half Marathon has two, and the Middle route has one. Outposts will offer fruit, cake, crisps, gels and electrolyte drinks. The event aims to be cup free at outposts, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
Key facilities and services include a fully marked and timed course, online results, event photography, a bag drop area, food and drink availability, metal finishers medals and non alcoholic beer. On-site camping is available through the nearby Kielder Campsite with options for tents, campervan pitches, family pods and caravans. Day parking is pay and display at £6.50.
Safety and entry notes: Ultra and Marathon runners are required to carry specific kit including a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, at least 1 litre of water, a whistle, foil blanket and GPX of the route.
