The Maverick Kielder Forest Gravel 2026
The event is a trail running meeting held at Kielder Castle, Kielder, Hexham, Northumberland (NE48 1EP), celebrating a century of Kielder Forest. The route network uses forest trails and includes steady inclines and viewpoints through the woodland.
Distances available include:
- Ultra: 52 km (elevation +1409 m)
- Marathon: 41 km (elevation +950 m)
- Half Marathon: 24 km (elevation +568 m)
- Middle: 12 km (elevation +500 m)
- Short: 5 km (elevation +184 m)
Camping is available near the start at Kielder Campsite, which offers camping pitches, campervan spaces, family pods and caravan options. Outposts on course will provide top-up supplies such as fruit, cake, crisps, gels and electrolyte drinks, but there will not be pre-filled water cups. Participants are asked to carry a reusable cup or bottle.
Safety measures include cut-off points for the Ultra and Marathon routes and mandatory kit for those distances. Mandatory items for Ultra and Marathon include a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, at least 800 calories of food, a minimum of 1 litre of water, a self-adhesive elastic bandage, a whistle, a foil blanket, a hat or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route.
