Bordeleau Vineyards Wine Run 5K
This event is a chip timed 5k run and walk held at Bordeleau Vineyards & Winery in Eden, Maryland. Registration includes a super soft ring spun cotton T-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a race bib with chip timing, online results, and a pour of wine. Minors may participate with a discounted registration; they receive a shirt, medal, and bib but do not receive the wine glass or a pour.
The course starts and finishes at the winery and follows a relatively flat out and back route with some grassy sections through and around the vineyard. The course is suitable for both running and walking. Strollers are permitted but not recommended due to uneven ground; children in strollers may participate for free and do not need to register. Dogs are not allowed on site because USDA rules prohibit them at the produce and vegetable farm.
The event supports US Kennels, Inc., an organization that matches rescue dogs from Delmarva shelters to disabled veterans and provides extended training. Age group awards are offered for the top three finishers in each category; age groups span ten year ranges from 19 and under up to 80 and over. Competitive runners must start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards. Packet pickup is race day only and opens one hour before the event.
