Event Overview
The Boots and Blooms 5K is a community athletic event held in New Bern, North Carolina. This event serves as an occasion to honor and remember infants lost too soon, coinciding with the start of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The race is organized by the Boots and Blooms Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting bereaved families. Participants have the choice between an in-person race and a virtual option.
Course and Participation
The in-person race takes place at Martin Marietta Park. The course utilizes the Dragonfly trail along with other adjacent paths to complete the total distance. The terrain consists of improved gravel trails with minimal elevation changes. This event is open to runners and walkers, and the course is accessible for jogging strollers. Participants can find one water station located along the route, with light refreshments available after the event.

Awards and Recognition
The event recognizes top performers in various categories. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers. Additionally, the top male and female participants in several age groups receive awards. These age groups include 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older. All registered participants receive a commemorative t-shirt, though size availability is guaranteed only for those who register by the specified September deadline.
