Booking It Through the Bluff

Booking It Through the Bluff is a multi-discipline sporting event held in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. The event features two primary options for participants: a triathlon and a dedicated running race. All proceeds from the event benefit the Hokes Bluff Library Foundation.

The distances available for participants are:

  • 42 km Triathlon (Individual, 2-person, or 3-person team)
  • 10 km Run Only

The 42 km triathlon begins and ends at the Hokes Bluff Community Center. The first leg consists of a 5 km run through a farming community on county roads with shaded rolling hills and a flat profile, ending with a downhill section at the Coosa River. The second leg is a 4.5 km kayak trip downstream on the Coosa River; safety boats are positioned along the river for assistance, and all participants must wear life jackets. The final leg is a 32.4 km cycle through Eastern Etowah County on back roads with minimal traffic, including a hydration station at the halfway point. Participants for the triathlon must be at least 14 years old.

The 10 km run is a loop course that starts and finishes at the Hokes Bluff Community Center, leading runners through the heart of town. Hydration stations are provided along the route.

Participants registered by the specified April deadline receive a dry-blend t-shirt. All finishers in both the triathlon and the 10 km run receive a commemorative participant award. Specific category awards are also provided for overall winners and age group placements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
