Bonneville Backyard Ultra : Provo, UT

The Bonneville Backyard Ultra is a last person standing race held at Deer Creek Reservoir near Provo, UT. Runners must complete the same loop repeatedly until only one runner remains.

The format requires completing one 4.167 miles loop every hour on the hour. The course is an out and back along Deer Creek Reservoir of about 2.08 miles each way. The terrain is described as mostly smooth and very runnable. Runners start each loop from a corral used to track who is continuing; failing to be in the corral when the bell rings results in elimination. No late starts, no pacers, and no exceptions are permitted.

Signals mark the countdown to each hourly start: three whistles for three minutes to go, two whistles for two minutes to go, one whistle for one minute to go, and the bell to start the loop exactly on the hour. The event emphasizes repeated hourly restarts, pacing strategy, and mental endurance as participants continue until only one finisher remains.

Organizers may privately invite a small number of waitlisted runners to act as standby participants on race day. The event is managed at the Deer Creek Dam Trailhead in Provo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
