Event format
The Bonneville Backyard Ultra is a last-person-standing backyard ultra scheduled for April 25, 2026 in Provo, UT. The format requires each participant to complete one 4.167-mile loop every hour on the hour. Runners may finish a loop early and use the remaining time to rest or refuel, but they must be inside a painted corral before the bell rings to start the next loop. Late starts, pacers, and exceptions are not permitted. The race continues until a single runner remains; all others will be recorded as DNF.
Course and rules
The course is an out-and-back along Deer Creek Reservoir, approximately 2.08 miles each way. The terrain is described as mostly smooth and very runnable. Hourly race signals are used for timing: 3 whistles = 3 minutes to go, 2 whistles = 2 minutes to go, 1 whistle = 1 minute to go, and the bell signals the start of each loop. Organizers may privately invite a small number of waitlisted runners as standby participants on race day. There is no defined time limit or conventional finish line beyond the hourly-start format.
