Event details
The Bonneville Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultramarathon held in Provo, UT, at the Deer Creek Dam Trailhead. It follows the Backyard Ultra format, a last-person-standing race in which runners repeat a fixed loop each hour. Registration closes Mon, Apr 27 @ 11:59 PM MT.
- 4.167-mile loop
- 2.08 miles each way (out-and-back course)
Course and rules
The course runs out-and-back along Deer Creek Reservoir. The terrain is described as mostly smooth and very runnable. Runners must complete one loop every hour on the hour; failing to start a loop on time results in elimination. A corral is used to track who continues each hour. Organizers use signals each loop: 3 whistles = 3 minutes to go, 2 whistles = 2 minutes to go, 1 whistle = 1 minute to go, and the bell signals the hour start. No late starts and no pacers are allowed. The event may invite a small number of waitlisted runners to serve as standby participants on race day.
