Event overview
The Spooky Sprint - Des Moines takes place on October 10, 2026, at Big Creek State Park in Polk City, Iowa. The event offers multiple distances and formats:

- Kids Dash (untimed, for ages 10 and under)
- Virtual Race
- Volunteer then Run
Entry prices range from $17 to $50. Youth pricing for the 5k and 10k is $17 for ages 12 and under. Registration by the deadline two weeks before the race guarantees a race shirt.
Services, awards, and policies
Race registration includes a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal for the Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k; the 1 Mile and Kids Dash are untimed and include apparel and medals as described. Chip timing, live results, and awards are provided for the timed events. Age-group awards for the 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon include male and female overall, masters (40+), and top three male and female in standard age brackets from 10 & under through 80+. Kid’s Dash, 1 Mile, and Virtual events do not qualify for age-group awards.
A virtual option allows participants to run any day at a location of their choice; virtual packets include a digital bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and shipping. Virtual packets are mailed the Wednesday after the race. Packet pickup is available on race day; items may be limited after the event.
Bodies Race Company has a no-refund policy. If the event is canceled by the venue or for ice hazards, entries may be transferred to the virtual event. Course maps are provided for the 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon and the course is subject to change. Volunteers receive rewards such as future race entry credits or a $20 gift card and may receive a shirt if extras remain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
