Christmas-Themed Running Event in Des Moines
The Candy Cane Course is a holiday-themed athletic event held in Des Moines, Iowa. This annual gathering features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants, ranging from short sprints to longer road races. The event incorporates festive elements throughout the experience, including seasonal treats available for participants at the finish line.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Kids Dash (50 meters) for participants aged 10 and under.
- 1 Mile untimed fun run.
- 5k (3.1 miles) chip-timed race.
- 10k (6.2 miles) chip-timed race.
- 15k (9.3 miles) chip-timed race.
The 5k, 10k, and 15k events utilize chip-timing technology to provide live results and categorical awards. Registration for these distances, as well as the 1 Mile run, includes a custom bib, a designer shirt, and a finisher medal. For the Kids Dash, registered participants receive a youth-sized shirt and a medal specifically designed for the dash. There is also an option for children to participate in the dash for free if they do not require the event shirt or medal.
A virtual race option is available for those unable to attend the physical location, allowing participants to complete their run independently while still receiving event memorabilia. Additionally, a volunteer program exists where individuals can assist with pre-race logistics before participating in a distance of their choice.
